ORLIN XY stage is fastest available
ORLIN Technologies announces the fastest motorised microscope XY stage currently available.
23 May 2006: With move and settle time of less than 100ms over the entire 15mm travel range, the LXYM15 open frame XY stage is ideal for scanning applications such as live cell imaging and semiconductor inspection. Motive force comes from direct-drive, non-cogging voice coil linear motors with closed-loop servo control, whose unique design reduces moving mass and maximises dynamic performance. Without rotary to linear conversion devices (e.g leadscrews) to introduce friction and backlash this speed is not, however, at the expense of precision. Non-contact optical linear encoders for position feedback are fitted as standard with resolution options between 5 microns and 0.5 microns (100nm version in development) and repeatability as low as +/-0.5 microns. Precision guiding systems, strategically positioned relative to the stage insert, ensure flatness across the system. The current model is compatible with the Carl Zeiss Axiovert range of microscopes and will accept the Zeiss Universal Mounting Frame K451352-00000-000. Models for other manufacturer's microscopes are in development and custom mounting features and inserts can be configured to suit the user’s application if required.
