Leica Z6 APO A & Z16 APO A, motorized apochromatic 6.3:1 and 16:1 zoom systems

16 June 2006: For high-precision inspections from manufacturing to integration in machine vision systems, industry leader Leica Microsystems introduces the first and only apochromatically corrected and motorized zoom systems to the market—the Z6 APO A with 6.3x zoom and Leica Z16 APO A with 16x zoom. The highest level of imaging performance of the optics combined with motorized functions guarantees higher productivity, 100% test reliability, and better products. Ultimately, these qualities secure the future of a company among international competition. The Leica Z6 APO A and Z16 APO A are clearly superior to other zoom systems with regard to contrast, image sharpness, color fidelity, detail richness and image precision. They meet all requirements for first-class analyses, measurements, polarized optical examinations, and digital and video documentation. In contrast to other zoom systems, Leica Z6 APO A offers the highest numeric aperture—0.117 nA (resolution 351 Lp/mm) with the 1x planapochromatic objective and 0.234 nA (resolution 702 Lp/mm) with the 2x planapochromatic objective. With 115x magnification in the standard configuration (1x planapochromatic objective and 10x wide-field eyepieces), the Leica Z16 APO A is the zoom system with the largest zoom range. Using 10x and 20x microscope objectives allows for total magnifications of up to 460x and a resolution of up to 1350 Lp/mm.
The motorized zoom, iris diaphragm and fine focus functions allow many inspection and documentation tasks to be automated, and are particularly well suited to experimental setups for high-tech developments. For example, images can be calibrated automatically, acquired in a database, and reference scales—such as measurement graticules or µ bars—can be integrated directly in the image. Sequential photographs can be repeated in a timesaving manner using the PC control system, and the optional motorized focus can be used to move to testing positions with the highest precision, increasing productivity many times over.
