06 April 2006: ETS-Lindgren announces the MACS (Magnetic Active Compensation System)for cost-effective, maintenance-free environmental magnetic field shielding of high resolution EM (Electron Microscope) instrumentation. The MAC system features patented technology that achieves unmatched protection against magnetic field fluctuations caused by subways, electrical distribution equipment, elevators, and moving vehicles.
ETS-Lindgren’s MAC system is the highest-performance commercial magnetic field compensation equipment available for protecting sensitive EM instruments from AC/DC environmental magnetic fields. With a patented wideband negative-feedback electronic design, the equipment deeply attenuates interfering magnetic fields at a fraction of the cost of alternative methods, such as passive shielding or relocation. Highly sensitive pickup sensors, located on the EM column, are used to detect alternating current magnetic fields radiating from AC power wiring, ground loops, transformers, and related sources.
ETS-Lindgren’s MAC system offers a unique design requiring no maintenance or adjustments following initial installation under normal operating conditions. In as little as three days, the system can be installed on new sites for EM interference protection, or on existing sites experiencing unanticipated low frequency magnetic field interference. The system also provides 24-hour operation and protection from environmental interference.
